Maria and Ricardo's

Hispanic-owned Business

In 1986, Maria and Ricardo, two cousins from Mexico, came to Boston driven by an entrepreneurial spirit. They had a passion for good food, a desire to learn and try new things and dreamed of starting their own business. While they loved Boston, they couldn't help but miss a little taste of Mexico — specifically, the tortillas. So, Maria and Ricardo traveled back to Mexico to learn more about the tortilla trade.

When they returned to Boston, they set up a small artisanal tortilleria featuring one of the first all-natural and organic tortillas on the East Coast. In 2006, the Montemayor family took over, with CEO Cheque Montemayor making sure no tortilla lover is ever left behind.
